Gameplay Engineer
Sparrowhawk Games, Remote
Sparrowhawk Games is seeking a versatile part-time engineer to help build a light-hearted, single-player indie Metroidvania. Led by a UK industry veteran with 20 years of experience, we are spending the next six months expanding an existing early prototype into a robust proof-of-concept focused on joyous, feel-good mechanics.
For which tasks (responsibilities)?
Work across gameplay, AI, UI, and internal dev tools to prototype and iterate on core features.
Collaborate closely with the Game Director to translate concepts into fluid, intuitive mechanics.
Write clean, maintainable C++ code designed for fast-paced iteration.
Help scope gameplay elements and advise on technical architecture and efficient implementation.
What kind of professional are we looking for?
3+ years of professional experience using C++ within Unreal Engine.
At least 1 released title .
Strong problem-solving, debugging skills, and a great intuitive feel for gameplay mechanics.
